Indian Summer

I'm assuming this is what they call Indian Summer! Boy, was the weather great this weekend. It makes it hard to believe winter will ever be on its way, which is just fine by me. The best part of this weekend wasn't actually the weather, it was the fact that Aaron was home! He's been gone for the past two weekends, and we hardly see each other during the week between work, volleyball, classes, and fire duty, so spending time together was over-due!

What'd we do? Friday night, my parents and went with us to Hopkins' Varsity Football game against Calvin Christian. It was a great night for a game; an even better night for a Hopkins WIN!

Yesterday, we finished the planting and miscellaneous chores in the back yard. We did a little tree shopping and are having a big ol' maple tree delivered and planted this week. As the sun grew hotter and hotter this summer and fall, we decided we were in desperate need of shade on the deck. The tree will be planted in order to meet that need.

Today, we went for our last "long" run of race training. Scheduled was an 8 miler, which I barely squeaked in because of Aaron's knee. He has been having some major problems with it, so bad that he's nervous about not being able to finish the race next Sunday. While running, it was bothering him so bad, I had to run home and get the car. I'm saddened that he's in pain...he's worked so hard training for this race, I just want him to be able to participate and feel good doing it. Hopefully with a little ice and a lot of prayers he'll be feeling better for the big day.

We're hoping to have a cheering section throughout the race next Sunday! Head to the GR Marathon website for a printable map with all the spectator sites. We'd love some encouragement as we run!
