For spring break this year, Aaron and I returned to Mexico. We stayed at an awesome resort about fifteen miles south of Cancun, better known as part of the Mayan Riviera. Our week was primarily spent relaxing by the pool, soaking up the warmth of the sun, tooling around here and there, and loving the fact that we were out of touch from our lives in GR! No cell phones, no papers to grade, fire calls to attend to....just us!
Here are some shots of various location in our resort. We stayed at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa. The grounds and facilities were gorgeous!
One day we went snorkeling. It was really cool especially when the guides tossed out food for the fish. At several points we were literally engulfed in a school of hundreds of tropical, colorful fish!

Our best night was Sunday. We made reservations and the Hibachi grill; there we dined with a young couple from Philly, two girls from Canada, and a group of middle-age siblings and their spouses. The night got crazy when we all started doing Saki-Bombs (drop a shot of Saki into a glass of beer and chug).
There were four pools at our resort; we stuck to the "quiet" pool so we could truly relax. In some of the previous shots the bubbily chairs are visible. In every pool there were built in lounge chairs with jacuzzi type bubbles! We tried to hang there during happy hour one day, but it just made me giggle!
This is my favorite shot from the whole week! Heavenly isn't it? Palm trees, sunshine, bathing suits, and each other!
Every night before dinner we would head out for a drink. One of the best things about our resort were the countless area to relax. When it wasn't too windy, as the nights often were, we grabbed a cushy seat on one of the verandas.

By mid-week we had the self take perfected once again!
This is a great story! Late one afternoon we went into Playa del Carmen to do some shopping and I was mesmerized by this "silver man." He would stand stone still, moving in a robotic or swanky way every once and a while. I desperately wanted a picture with him, so I watched him for way too long. Finally, I dropped a tip in his jar and he invited my on the box for a photo opt. He greeted me with a husky American "hola" and smiled nicely. Next thing I knew he was kissing my hand and searching for Aaron in the crowd. After finding Aaron and calling him forward with a finger, silver man stepped down from his podium. I thought he was going to squish all three of us up there and pose, but he did something that made both of us blush tomato red. He put Aaron on the stand, grabbed my hand, pulled me down the street, and told Aaron to take over for the next while! It was hilarious...did I mention there was a huge crowd watching the scene unravel!
Poolside! Due to the busyness of the resort, we would mark our chairs each morning before 8 am. We were shocked that even though the resort had four pools plus masses of lounge chairs on the beach we still and to get up bright and early to do so.
Ah yes, the many drink choices. Looks like I have a pina colada here; we didn't get too crazy with food and drinks this year, just enough to satisfy :)

The beaches were absolutely gorgeous-dazzling white sand, green and blue water, and arefreshing breeze! We walked them frequently in the late afternoon; I went running one morning and was greeted by several other beach runners!
